Tesla reports third-quarter 2026 results after the market closes on Wednesday, October 21, and holds its earnings call at 5:30 p.m. ET. Tesla confirmed the date in its October 2 deliveries release.
This page is updated each quarter with the next date, the estimates going in and the results.
"After the close" means after regular trading ends at 4 p.m. ET. Shares can move in after-hours trading that evening, but the first full session to react is the next morning.
What analysts expect
| Q3 2026 estimate | Q3 2025 actual | |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | About $27.9 billion | $28.1 billion |
| Earnings per share | $0.45 | $0.50 |
Options traders are pricing in a move of about 7.4% in either direction after the report. Tesla closed at $354.72 on October 16 and is down about 21% this year.
Estimates are averages compiled by data providers and differ slightly between them. A company "beats" when it reports more than the estimate and "misses" when it reports less. The stock can still fall on a beat if the outlook disappoints.
What to watch
- Robotaxi, self-driving and Optimus. Goldman Sachs said updates on these are likely to matter more to the stock than the earnings figure.
- Car margins. Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles in the quarter, above estimates. The question is how much profit it made on each one.
- Spending and cash flow. Tesla plans more than $25 billion in capital spending this year, and free cash flow was negative $1.1 billion last quarter.
- Energy storage. Margins on its battery business dropped sharply in the second quarter.
Past results
| Quarter | Reported | Earnings per share | Revenue | Stock reaction |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Q2 2026 | July 23, 2026 | $0.33 (estimate $0.50) | $28.24 billion | Fell 14.5% |

What about the Tesla–SpaceX merger talk?
Speculation about combining Tesla and SpaceX has grown ahead of this quarter's reports. Neither company has announced a deal. In a stock merger, shareholders of one company usually receive shares of the other at a fixed ratio, so the terms would decide who benefits. Rumors are not a reason to buy or sell either stock. SpaceX reports a day earlier, on October 20. See the SpaceX earnings date page.
If you're a beginner
- Buying right before earnings is a bet on one day. Options prices suggest a move of about 7.4% either way, and nobody can reliably predict the direction.
- Use limit orders after hours. Fewer people trade outside regular hours, so prices can jump. A limit order caps what you pay.
- Think in years, not quarters. If you want to own the company long term, one report rarely changes that. Buying in smaller amounts over time lowers the risk of bad timing.
- Check what you already own. An S&P 500 or total market fund already holds Tesla. Keep any single stock to a small part of a diversified portfolio.
