How we test, review and update

Every recommendation on this site comes from an account we opened, funded and used. Here is exactly what that means, so you can judge whether to trust it.

01
We open the account

Every broker, bank or app reviewed here gets a real, funded account. Screenshots in our reviews are ours, not the provider's press kit.

02
We test the thing that matters

For brokers that means placing orders, checking fills, moving money out and timing support replies — not reading the marketing page.

03
Numbers come from primary sources

Fees, APYs and limits are taken from provider disclosures and dated in the article, never from another blog's round-up.

04
Tax and legal posts get a second reader

Anything touching filing, entities or estates is reviewed by a credentialed preparer before publishing. Their name appears on the post.

05
We name who it's wrong for

Every review states who should skip the product. If we can't articulate that, the review isn't finished.

06
We re-check on a schedule

Quarterly for rates and fees, immediately when a provider announces a change. The updated date on each post is real.

HOW WE MAKE MONEY

Some links pay us a commission when you open an account. We take no payment for a positive review, no brand has approval over our copy, and products we don't recommend stay in the article with the reason why. Where a partner pays more, we say so in the page itself.

Corrections

Found something wrong? Email us and we'll fix it and note the change at the bottom of the post. Every article shows its last-updated date; rates, fees and limits are re-checked on a quarterly cycle, and sooner when a provider announces a change.
