Thanksgiving is November 26. If the schedule slips past it, many IPOs wait until the new year.

How to buy Anthropic stock

There are two ways in, and they are very different bets. Our guide on how to buy IPO stock covers both in detail.

  • At the IPO price. The November 2 filing says part of the offering will go to individual investors through Charles Schwab, Fidelity, Robinhood, Trade-PMR, SoFi and E*TRADE. Check your broker's IPO center for eligibility before the order window opens. Requests aren't guaranteed, and most brokers restrict future IPO access if you sell within about 30 days.
  • On the first day of trading. Once ANT starts trading, any brokerage account can buy it at the market price. Use a limit order, because first-day prices can jump or fall by large amounts within minutes.

Be wary of "pre-IPO" products. Some platforms have sold tokens or fund units tied to Anthropic shares before the IPO. Anthropic has warned that transfers it didn't approve may not be recognized and that such products may have limited or no legal value.

What the filing shows

  • Valuation. Anthropic raised $65 billion at a $965 billion valuation in May 2026. Investors have discussed $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion for the IPO, according to Reuters and The Wall Street Journal. The Journal reported the offering could raise as much as $100 billion.
  • Revenue and losses. Revenue was about $16.3 billion in the first half of 2026. The net loss was $80.7 billion, largely from an accounting charge on bonds that can convert into shares, Reuters reported. The November 2 amendment added third-quarter results.
  • Voting control. Public Class A shares carry one vote each. A single Class F share held by the co-founders carries 50.1% of general voting power, and a Long-Term Benefit Trust elects a majority of the board. Buyers of ANT would have limited say over how the company is run.
  • Banks. 22 underwriters are listed, led by Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.

Risks to weigh

  • Valuation. At $1.5 trillion or more, the price assumes years of very fast growth. If growth slows, the stock can fall a long way.
  • Spending. Training and running AI models takes enormous computing spending, which the filing lists among its main risks.
  • New-listing swings. SpaceX priced at $135 in June 2026, closed its first day at $160.95, and later traded below its IPO price. See how to buy SpaceX stock for how that played out.
  • Lockups. Insiders usually can't sell for months after an IPO, and the stock can come under pressure when those shares are released. Check the prospectus for Anthropic's schedule, and see what an IPO lockup is.
  • Concentration. Large new listings are usually added to broad index funds within months to a year. If you hold a diversified index fund, you'll likely own a small slice eventually without picking it.

FAQ

When is the Anthropic IPO?

Anthropic hasn't set a date. Reports from Reuters and The Wall Street Journal point to investor marketing starting the week of November 9, 2026, and pricing as soon as the week of November 16. IPO schedules often slip.

What is Anthropic's stock ticker?

ANT, on the Nasdaq Global Select Market, according to its October 26, 2026 filing.

Can I buy Anthropic stock at the IPO price?

Possibly. The amended filing says part of the offering will go to individual investors through Charles Schwab, Fidelity, Robinhood, Trade-PMR, SoFi and E*TRADE at the IPO price. Each broker sets its own eligibility rules, and demand may mean you get fewer shares than you asked for, or none.

What will Anthropic shares cost?

Nobody knows yet. The price range and number of shares were still blank in the November 2 filing. The banks usually add a range shortly before the roadshow, and the final price is set the night before trading starts.

Is Anthropic stock available now?

No. Anthropic is still a private company. Products that claim to sell pre-IPO exposure may not be authorized by the company; Anthropic has warned that some of them may have limited or no legal value.

Should I buy Anthropic stock?

That depends on your goals and how much risk you can take. A new listing at a very high valuation can swing hard in either direction. If you buy, keep it to a small part of a diversified portfolio and use limit orders.
