How to Withdraw Money From Moomoo (and How Long It Takes)

THE SHORT ANSWER

ACH is free and takes several business days. A wire is fast and costs money. Unless you need the cash within two days, use ACH.

The thing that surprises people is settlement. Selling a stock does not make the money withdrawable that day — US trades settle the next business day, and only settled cash can leave.

The withdrawal itself is four taps. Almost every complaint about Moomoo withdrawals is really about one of three things: settlement, bank verification, or a promotional lock-up. Each is covered below.

Before you start

  • Your bank must be linked and verified, either through Plaid or micro-deposits. Micro-deposits add a couple of days, so do this before you need the money.
  • The cash must be settled. US stock sales settle on a T+1 cycle — sell on Monday, settled Tuesday.
  • Check for promotional restrictions. Free shares and transfer bonuses usually carry a holding period, and withdrawing early can forfeit them.

The steps

Numbered screenshots of each step below, captured on your own account. This sequence is the reason someone lands on this page rather than Moomoo's help centre.
  1. Open the account tab and find the deposit and withdrawal section.
  2. Choose withdraw, then select the linked bank account you want the money sent to.
  3. Enter the amount. The screen shows an available-to-withdraw figure, which is settled cash only — expect it to be lower than your total balance.
  4. Pick the method. ACH is free; wire is faster and charged.
  5. Confirm. You will get an in-app confirmation and, usually, an email.

How long it actually takes

METHODCOSTTYPICAL TIMENOTES
ACHFree1–3 business days after settlementThe default. Business days only.
Domestic wire$20Same or next business daySame or next business day. Your bank may also charge.
International wire$253–5 business daysIntermediary banks can add fees and delay.

The speeds above are the windows Moomoo publishes, not times we have clocked ourselves; treat them as the broker's own estimate. Moomoo's help centre gives wire costs as a range rather than a figure, because the total includes charges from banks Moomoo does not control. Published third-party numbers disagree with each other and with Moomoo. Read the fee on the confirmation screen before you submit.

The settlement wait, explained

This is the single most common cause of "my money is stuck."

When you sell shares, the trade has to clear before the proceeds become cash you can move. US equities settle on T+1: one business day after the trade. Sell on Friday and the money is settled Monday, because weekends are not business days.

Your account will show the proceeds immediately as buying power, which is what causes the confusion — you can buy another stock with it right away, but you cannot withdraw it. Buying power and withdrawable cash are different numbers.

What blocks a withdrawal

  • Unsettled funds. The most common. Wait for T+1.
  • Unverified bank account. Micro-deposit verification takes a couple of business days.
  • Promotional holding periods. Free stock and transfer-match promotions carry conditions, and pulling money out early can void them. Read the terms attached to whatever offer you took.
  • Recent deposits. Brokers commonly hold newly deposited funds for a period before allowing them to be withdrawn again, which is an anti-fraud measure rather than a Moomoo quirk.
  • A returned ACH. If a transfer bounces, Moomoo charges a $10 fee and the account may be restricted until it is resolved.

Limits

Withdrawal limits vary by method and by account, and the figure shown in your app is the one that governs. ACH withdrawals are capped per transaction and per day and wires have their own, higher ceilings should be read from your own account rather than taken from any review.

For comparison, we cover the equivalent question for another broker in how much money you can take out of Robinhood at once.

Withdrawing everything, and closing the account

Emptying the account is not the same as closing it. An account with a zero balance stays open, which is usually harmless — Moomoo does not charge inactivity fees.

If you want to move holdings rather than cash, do not sell first. Transferring shares directly through ACAT avoids realising gains and triggering a tax bill. Our guide to closing a brokerage account for free covers both routes, and the transfer-out fee is listed in Moomoo fees explained.

The short version

Link and verify your bank before you need the money. Sell at least one business day before you want to withdraw. Use ACH unless speed is worth the wire fee. If the available figure looks too low, it is almost always settlement rather than a problem with your account.
